Welcome to the Lewis-Palmer Assessment web page.  We hope this web page will assist teachers, parents, and students with questions about how and why students are assessed.  Assessment is a key component of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) because assessment helps us answer fundamental questions.

Before creating assessments, PLCs must ask themselves:  What should students know and be able to do?

Once this is determined, assessments provide data to tell teachers:  Which students have learned and which students have not learned?

If our assessment data tells us that students have not learned, PLCs must decide:  What interventions can be put in place?

Once interventions are in place to support students having difficulty, assessments will tell us if the interventions were successful.
